Project Evaluation

Since there is no direct focus on examinations, and since we cater to a very large population (10,000 students) on a one or two time per year basis, it is difficult to devise an evaluation process for the benefit rendered by the MSL (Mobile Science Lab). The method we have used since 1996-97 is what we call "pre-test and post-test evaluations". Each year, we randomly choose a few schools at which we give a short objective pre-test on the material to be covered during the experiments of the day. Much of this material is already covered in the school syllabus. At the end of the day, we give them another, almost identical, post-test. The average for the class is calculated for each of the tests and the difference as a percentage is taken as an indicator of the effectiveness of the program. Below is a tabular representation of the results for the last several years.

Note:
1)The most recent data has not yet been posted. 2) The overall improvement in student comprehension was 32% in the 1996-97 academic school year, 35% in 1997-98, 33% in 1998-99, 45% in 1999-2000, and 28% in year 2000-01. The combined mean for the available data is 35% and the median is 29%.
